PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between So Lo Kyu (ranked 4585 p4p, 3042 weight class) and James Crazyhorse (ranked 548 p4p, 411 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, So Lo Kyu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Crazyhorse!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, David Hoff and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kyu misses with a double jab.
Crazyhorse tries for a takedown but Kyu sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Kyu appears to be looking for a big counter.
Kyu throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A punch combination from Kyu misses.
Crazyhorse tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Crazyhorse avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Crazyhorse closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Crazyhorse lands in his opponent's guard.

Crazyhorse has gone for a leg lock! Kyu slips out almost immediately though and dives into Crazyhorse's guard.


Crazyhorse is looking for a triangle but Kyu pushes his legs off easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Kyu knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Crazyhorse on the ground.
Crazyhorse has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Kyu has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Crazyhorse drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Crazyhorse jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Crazyhorse postures up in Kyu's guard and throws a big left but Kyu blocks it.
Kyu wants to stand and escape but Crazyhorse is having none of it.
Crazyhorse has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kyu is wriggling around but Crazyhorse manages to pass to half guard.

Crazyhorse wants to control the pace but Kyu is squirming around nicely.

Crazyhorse is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kyu can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Crazyhorse misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Kyu wants to get back to his feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Kyu's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Crazyhorse shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kyu as he jumps to the side.

Crazyhorse dives in and grabs Kyu's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kyu pushes down on Crazyhorse's head and hops out.
So Lo Kyu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Crazyhorse.
Crazyhorse shoots for a double leg takedown but Kyu sprawls well. He's pushed Crazyhorse's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kyu could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Kyu might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Crazyhorse had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kyu defends it easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Crazyhorse pulls Kyu in close to prevent any damage.

Kyu drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Crazyhorse dives on top into guard.


Crazyhorse drops back looking for a leg! Kyu is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kyu manages to kick Crazyhorse off! Crazyhorse jumps back into Kyu's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kyu is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Crazyhorse holds on and takes a little breather.

Crazyhorse throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Crazyhorse is trying is best to control the position here.

Crazyhorse wants to control but Kyu is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Crazyhorse is on top in guard.

Crazyhorse is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that So Lo Kyu will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Kyu thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Crazyhorse has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kyu can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Kyu wants to control from the top but Crazyhorse keeps moving.
Kyu is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Crazyhorse is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Kyu has his hands clasped together but Crazyhorse extends and breaks Kyu's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Crazyhorse.
