The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab lands there for Leyton Jr.
Leyton Jr lands the left hand.
Costa changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Leyton Jr looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Costa lands a few punches from side control.
Costa scores with punches from side control.
Costa wants to control but Leyton Jr is keeping him busy.
Costa working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Leyton Jr tries to escape but Costa is in control.
Costa cracks Leyton Jr with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Costa immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Leyton Jr is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Costa!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johan Costa!
