Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Julio Christ!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergei Sokolov!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Dmitry Maklakov and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sokolov falls off balance throwing a combination
and Christ connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
It looks like Sergei Sokolov has been cut.
Christ has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Christ lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Christ.
Sokolov doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Christ counters with a stiff right hand.
Sokolov misses with a double jab
and Christ counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Sokolov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Christ moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Christ cracks Sokolov with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Sokolov tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Christ pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Sokolov is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Julio Christ!
Our winner, Julio Christ, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
