Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Valdez (ranked 2464 p4p, 2530 weight class) and Juju Chavez (ranked 151 p4p, 156 weight class). Valdez's entrance music is Accept - Balls to the Wall. A fine choice. Juju Chavez will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fernando Valdez! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Juju Chavez! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Valdez jabs Chavez to the body, keeping him at a distance. Chavez fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Chavez throws a hook but Valdez avoids it easily. Valdez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Valdez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Chavez napping and manages to drive through into side control! Chavez is looking for a sweep. Valdez landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Valdez is chipping away with strikes.
Valdez grinds an elbow into Chavez's temple. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Valdez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Chavez keeps working. Chavez is looking to regain half guard here but Valdez keeps moving and retains side control. Valdez lands some shots froms side control. Valdez lands some shots froms side control. That's one minute gone in the round. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Valdez lands a nice short elbow. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Valdez seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. Valdez is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Valdez looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Chavez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Valdez seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Valdez is keen to just control but Chavez is a slippery customer. That's two minutes gone in the round. Valdez slips a nice elbow through Chavez's hands, connecting with Chavez's forehead. Valdez working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Valdez is looking to take a break and control but Chavez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Valdez lands a nice short elbow. Chavez moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Valdez postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Valdez cracks Chavez with a solid left hand. Valdez scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Valdez is working Chavez over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Chavez looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Valdez passes into side control.

Valdez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Chavez keeps working. Valdez working the body and head with strikes. Valdez lands a nice forearm strike. Valdez landing strikes. Valdez works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Valdez cracks Chavez with a big right hand but Chavez just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Chavez is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Valdez lands an elbow. Chavez is still in real trouble! Can Valdez finish him? Chavez is looking to regain half guard here but Valdez keeps moving and retains side control. Chavez seems to have recovered his senses. Valdez scores with a couple of short elbows. Valdez advances to full mount. Valdez landing shots from mount. Valdez pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Valdez landing strikes, looking to finish! Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Valdez cracks Chavez with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!

An out of breath Fernando Valdez thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
