Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Lindsey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ed Mate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Daniel Lindsey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ed Mate!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lindsey avoids the head kick by Mate.
A leg kick checked by Lindsey.
Lindsey swats away the attempt to clinch by Mate.
Lindsey looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mate is fending him off so far but Lindsey persists. Nope, Mate circles away and we're back to standing.
Ed Mate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lindsey shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mate as he jumps to the side.
Mate shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Lindsey clinches up against the cage.

Lindsey escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mate with a lazy takedown attempt

and Lindsey moves into the clinch.

Mate jumps guard and drags Lindsey to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Lindsey would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Mate controls Lindsey momentarily but Lindsey frees himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lindsey with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Lindsey wants to stand but Mate is controlling his posture from full guard.

Mate has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lindsey can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Mate is wriggling around but Lindsey manages to pass to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mate is refusing to be controlled, as Lindsey sits in half guard.
Lindsey throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Lindsey prevents Mate from standing back up.
Lindsey prevents Mate from improving his position.
Mate wants to control but Lindsey is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lindsey tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mate paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lindsey shoots in but Mate avoids the takedown attempt easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Lindsey. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mate lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Mate drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Mate with a flurry of punches that miss.

Mate stands up and waves to Lindsey to follow him.

and Mate counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mate with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Lindsey is breathing heavily.

Mate decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Mate closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Mate passes to side control.
Lindsey is trying to control Mate's posture but Mate avoids it.
Lindsey is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Mate's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ed Mate dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Mate shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Lindsey decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Mate's guard.

Lindsey gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

and Mate counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Mate.

Lindsey bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mate's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mate pushes Lindsey off and gets back to his feet.
Lindsey tries to clinch but Mate moves out of range.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mate misses with a looping right.
Mate shoots and misses
and Lindsey counters with a low kick, right behind Mate 's knee.

Lindsey shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Lindsey was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Mate is just holding on here. Lindsey manages to take his back.
Mate is trying to break free.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mate manages to reverse the position and now he's in Lindsey's guard. Nice work there by Mate.
Mate looking to pass the guard.
Mate really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lindsey. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mate slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Mate is pushing down on Lindsey's leg trying to pass to half guard. Lindsey is fighting to maintain full guard but Mate has managed to sneak the leg through.

Lindsey has one foot on Mate's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Mate wants to clinch but Lindsey slips to the side

and Lindsey counters with a single leg into guard. Mate didn't expect that.
Lindsey thows a big elbow that misses.
Lindsey has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mate is proving hard to escape from.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mate working for submissions but it's allowed Lindsey to get to half guard.

Lindsey is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mate trying to hold on to Lindsey's head to control him but Lindsey postures up.

Mate looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Lindsey stands up out of the half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Lindsey dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Lindsey shoots in but no luck this time.
Mate misses with a head kick.
Mate misses with a takedown
and Lindsey counters with a big head kick but Mate shrugs it off.
Mate has his takedown stuffed

and Lindsey counters by clinching up.
Nice elbow from Lindsey.
Mate lands an uppercut.
Lindsey manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Lindsey drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mate gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Mate avoiding damage as Lindsey throws knees to the body.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mate looking for a takedown.
Daniel Lindsey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ed Mate.
Knees in the clinch landing for Lindsey.
Mate tries to pull guard but Lindsey holds him up against the cage and eventually Mate drops back down to his feet.
Lindsey with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Lindsey breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Lindsey counters with a takedown into side control.
Lindsey could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mate can't do much from the bottom here.
Lindsey creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Mate sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Mate can't do much from the bottom here.
Lindsey has control of an arm but Mate manages to advance to Lindsey's back!
Mate manages to reverse the position and now he's in Lindsey's guard. Nice work there by Mate.
Mate must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Mate slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Lindsey gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mate missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Mate trying to control from Lindsey's half guard. Lindsey has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

Mate tries to free his leg and advance position but Lindsey is retaining full guard.
Lindsey can't keep his opponent in guard - Mate advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Still in half guard, Mate seems content to control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mate trying to control the action but Lindsey is working from the bottom.
Mate is taking a breather. Lindsey says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Mate controlling the pace.

Daniel Lindsey showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Lindsey has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
