This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 13 wins and 8 losses; Bazar Al Jhit! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 27 wins and 18 losses; Morrison Lee! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, William Peck and Steve Smith.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Al Jhit shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lee sprawls well. Lee wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Al Jhit gets slowly back to his feet. A momentary lapse in concentration from Al Jhit enables Lee to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Al Jhit manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Al Jhit (0) vs (2) Lee Lee tries to free his leg and advance position but Al Jhit is retaining full guard. Al Jhit looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Lee is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Al Jhit is looking to improve his position but Lee isn't that keen on the idea.

Al Jhit is trying to get back to full guard. Al Jhit has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lee is working away from the top position though. Lee is taking a breather. Al Jhit says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Al Jhit has a hand on Lee's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Lee takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! My spies in The Proving Grounds inform me that Lee has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Al Jhit wants to hold on but Lee pushes him away. Al Jhit is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Lee pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Al Jhit is keeping the position for now. Lee preventing the sweep. Al Jhit had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lee defends it easily. Al Jhit trying to keep a closed guard but Lee is proving a slippery customer.

And that's the end of the fight! Lee wins on points by 15 to 2. A relieved looking Morrison Lee thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
