Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Taribo West (ranked 4177 p4p, 3888 weight class) and Derek Trucks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Trucks has chosen Lost without you as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Derek Trucks has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 19 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Derek Trucks!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Emerson Jorge and Seu Braga.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown attempt by Trucks or perhaps it was just good defense by West, which made it look bad.
Trucks misses with a takedown attempt

and West counters by moving into the clinch.
Trucks blocks a body shot from West.
West struggles to land a body shot inside as Trucks controls his hands.
West tries to throw a body punch but Trucks avoids it by throwing West back against the cage.
West misses with a punch on the inside.
Trucks prevents a body shot from West.
Trucks lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Trucks struggles to land a body shot inside as West controls his hands.
West tries to work over Trucks's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Trucks lands a nice knee to the body.
West is pressed up against the cage. Trucks has hold of a leg and is looking to drag West down to the mat. West avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Taribo West has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derek Trucks.
Trucks will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Trucks is on top in guard.

Trucks drops back looking for a leg! West is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and West manages to kick Trucks off! Trucks jumps back into West's guard.
West is trying to control the position but Trucks postures up.

Trucks throws a big elbow that misses.
Trucks throwing strikes from guard but West blocks nicely.
West on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if West tries to get out of the position.
Trucks lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Trucks content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Trucks distracts West with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Trucks slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Trucks drops West with a beautiful combination! West stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Trucks is looking for the KO!

It looks like Taribo West has been cut.
Trucks scores with a leg kick.
West misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Trucks.
Trucks lands a jab to West's midsection.
Trucks looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
West closes the distance but Trucks moves to the side
and Trucks counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
West doesn't manage to clinch there - Trucks circles away.

Trucks lands a big head kick that sends West tumbling to the mat! Trucks takes a step backwards and waves West back to his feet - he wants the finish!

West is rocked!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Derek Trucks dominated that round.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Trucks throws a front kick that sends West stumbling back into the cage.
West throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Trucks counters with a monster hook and another for good measure! West falls to the ground, out cold! Stick some heavy metal music over the top of that clip and it's one for the highlight makers!

Derek Trucks gave a mention to Neon Zombie in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
