Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marko Loimula (ranked 3484 p4p, 3636 weight class) and Liko Dares (ranked 429 p4p, 442 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Marko Loimula! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Liko Dares! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, David Hoff and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dares lands a nice looking kick to the body. Loimula takes a step back to recover. Loimula chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Dares can pounce on him.
Dares throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Loimula attempts a counter takedown but Dares avoids it well and moves away. Good work by Loimula as he checks the leg kick. Loimula tries to counter with a takedown but Dares is quick to defend against it. Loimula on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Loimula throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Dares counters with an inside leg kick. Loimula blocks a head kick by Dares.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dares throws a leg kick and Loimula counters with a single leg into guard. Dares didn't expect that. Loimula drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Loimula jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Loimula is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Loimula forces his way into half guard. Dares really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Loimula. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Loimula is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dares defends it well. Loimula is looking to advance position but Dares won't allow it. Dares is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Dares wants to get back to his feet.
Dares looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Loimula seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dares does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Dares keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Loimula trying to pass the guard but Dares defending well. Loimula seems to be working for a kimura but Dares defends the submission attempt. Loimula is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Dares is defending against the submission attempts here by Loimula.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Dares looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Loimula is trying to work for a kimura but Dares is defending well.
Loimula is trying to control. Dares wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Loimula uses his free foot to push down on Dares's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Dares. Poor strikes thrown by Loimula there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Loimula lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Dares hang on? Loimula has hold of Dares's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Dares manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Loimula working for a guillotine from mount but Dares is in no mood to give up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Loimula tries to control but Dares wriggling away. Dares really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Loimula wants to control the pace but Dares is squirming around nicely. Loimula looking to ground and pound but Dares is blocking nicely. Loimula looking for the RNC. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Marko Loimula dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Loimula throws a jab but it's blocked by Dares. Loimula keeps the fight on the outside. Loimula changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Loimula on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Dares. Dares obviously looking to wear him down.
Loimula checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Dares bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Dares looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Dares moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Loimula manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Loimula escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Dares gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Loimula definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
That's one minute gone in the round. Loimula is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Dares frees his head nicely. Oh but Loimula has switched to an armbar! Dares is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
