PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hamadi Hajjar (ranked 2395 p4p, 2139 weight class) and William Reeves (ranked 310 p4p, 281 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hamadi Hajjar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, William Reeves!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Russell Pearce and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reeves fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hajjar fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Hajjar misses the body punch
and Reeves counters with a stiff right hand.
Hajjar fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Reeves manages to avoid it.
Hajjar ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Reeves circles away from the clinch attempt
and Reeves counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Reeves digs a good body shot into Hajjar's ribs.
Nice uppercut lands for Hajjar. That snapped Reeves's head back.
Reeves lands with an uppercut that bounces Hajjar off the cage and back into range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hajjar tries to close the distance and clinch but Reeves swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Reeves scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Reeves lands a nice leg kick that just misses Hajjar's sensitive parts.
Hajjar lands a nice hook to Reeves's body. Reeves takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Reeves fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Hajjar looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Reeves avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Hajjar takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Hajjar doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hajjar takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
William Reeves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hajjar takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

It looks like Hamadi Hajjar has been cut.

Reeves waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Hajjar. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Hajjar to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

Reeves gets to his feet. Hajjar looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Reeves closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Reeves lands in his opponent's guard.
Oh Hajjar is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Reeves had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hajjar defends it easily.
Hajjar is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Hajjar is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Reeves felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Reeves goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

It looked like Hajjar wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Reeves swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Reeves fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Hajjar misses with a straight right.
Reeves doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Reeves has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Reeves throws a leg kick that misses.
Reeves fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Reeves walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Hajjar drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Reeves swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Hajjar's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
