The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Shaver gets caught napping as Kaber dives in and scores a takedown. Shaver manages to retain guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Kaber (2) vs (0) Shaver Kaber trying to control but Shaver is working from the bottom. Shaver is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Shaver has control of Kaber's left arm, preventing Kaber from doing any damage. Shaver looking to control.
Shaver keeping moving, preventing Kaber from controlling successfully. Kaber sitting in guard here, content to control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shaver is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kaber drops back looking for a leg! Shaver is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Shaver manages to kick Kaber off! Kaber jumps back into Shaver's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shaver manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kaber manages to get himself to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Kaber is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Shaver is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Score +2 for reaching mount: Kaber (2) vs (7) Shaver The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Kaber has given up his back here. Will Shaver look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Score +3 for taking back: Kaber (2) vs (10) Shaver Shaver working for the choke. Shaver is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Kaber is defending well though. Shaver let's go of the attempt for now. Shaver is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Kaber has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. Kaber rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shaver wants to pass the guard but Kaber is keeping the position. Shaver wants to control from the top but Kaber keeps moving. Shaver pushes down on Kaber's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shaver trying to control from half guard but Kaber is working away. Shaver wants to work for an arm triangle but Kaber is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Shaver looks winded! Shaver is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Kaber still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Kaber has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
