And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Marcus Shakes! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Jorge Garcia and Joseph Jones.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Shakes rushes Jackson and presses him up against the cage. Shakes tries to pull guard but Jackson holds him up against the cage and eventually Shakes drops back down to his feet.
Shakes drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jackson gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Shakes manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Shakes managing to control the position. Jackson has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jackson tries to free his leg and advance position but Shakes is retaining full guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shakes is on top in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Shakes slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Jackson is pulling down on Shakes's head to control his posture. Shakes trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Shakes perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Shakes is continuing to stall. Jackson works his way to full guard. Good work.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
