This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the featherweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Tim Riggins! And in the blue corner, fighting out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 2 losses; Tenshin Nas!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Eddie Farnsworth and Chad Campbell.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Nas drives through and clinches with Riggins against the cage.

Nas is trying to trip Riggins. He has hold of a leg but Riggins is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Nas persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Nas is pushing down on Riggins's leg trying to pass to half guard. Riggins is fighting to maintain full guard but Nas has managed to sneak the leg through.
Nas is thwarting Riggins's attempts to control the position.

Riggins really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, if Nas is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Nas looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Nas is looking to advance position but Riggins won't allow it.
Nas passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Riggins!

Nas takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Riggins gets back to half guard.

Nas wants to work for an arm triangle but Riggins is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Riggins won't allow Nas to pass to mount.
Riggins wants to get back to full guard.
Nas perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Riggins has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nas is working away from the top position though.
Riggins is looking for a sweep. Nas is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Nas is taking a breather. Riggins says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Riggins looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nas is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Riggins rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Nas takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
It looks like Nas might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Let's hope that Nas has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Nas is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Riggins has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Nas is looking to defend but Riggins has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Nas! Riggins pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Nas taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 8:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Tim Riggins!
Tim Riggins was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
Tenshin Nas spoke after the fight, saying 'Like to thank my opponent the opportunity to fight and learn from a great fighter '.
