PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Buzz Jernigan (ranked 6324 p4p, 4275 weight class) and Kyle Eilerman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kyle Eilerman will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Buzz Jernigan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kyle Eilerman!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jernigan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Eilerman counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Jernigan scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Eilerman manages to mount him!

Jernigan defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Eilerman.

Jernigan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Jernigan wants to try and get back to his feet.
Eilerman wants to stand but Jernigan is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

It looks like Eilerman might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Eilerman is continuing to stall.
The adventures of Eilerman the control monster continue. Boring.
Jernigan definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Let's hope that Eilerman has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Jernigan wants to get back to his feet.

The referee warns Jernigan that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Eilerman tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Horrible takedown attempt by Jernigan or perhaps it was just good defense by Eilerman, which made it look bad.
Eilerman tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jernigan throws a sloppy head kick and Eilerman moves out of range easily.

and Eilerman counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jernigan had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Eilerman defends it easily.

Jernigan working for a triangle but Eilerman defends it easily.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Jernigan pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Eilerman steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Jernigan.
Eilerman shoots in looking for a takedown but Jernigan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Eilerman's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Eilerman has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Jernigan tries a head kick but it misses.

The fight stays on the outside here - Eilerman looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

and Eilerman counters with a shoot takedown. Jernigan fights it but they end up in guard.
Eilerman is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Eilerman connects with a couple of short punches.

Eilerman forces his way into half guard.
Eilerman is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jernigan!

Eilerman jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Jernigan manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Jernigan is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Eilerman is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jernigan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Jernigan is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Jernigan tries to bench press Eilerman off him but Eilerman keeps the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Jernigan manages to work his way to half guard, despite Eilerman's best efforts.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Eilerman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Eilerman is on top in guard.

Jernigan throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Eilerman escapes and throws Jernigan's legs to the side, diving into side control!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jernigan looking for a sweep but Eilerman has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Jernigan's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Jernigan is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Eilerman locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Jernigan is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kyle Eilerman!
