Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Jayson Tatum (ranked 6748 p4p, 21163 weight class) and Riley Knox (ranked 686 p4p, 702 weight class). Knox has chosen Roy Jones Jr - I Smoke, I Drink feat. Mr. Magic & Youngbloodz) as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Riley Knox!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tatum pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Good work by Knox as he checks the leg kick.
Knox buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Nice jab there from Tatum.
Tatum connects with a single shot there.

Knox clinches up with Tatum and pushes him back against the ropes.
Tatum tries to throw a body punch but Knox avoids it by throwing Tatum back against the ropes.
Knox swings wildly with an uppercut but Tatum uses good head movement to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tatum misses with a punch on the inside.
Tatum avoiding damage as Knox throws knees to the body.

Tatum looks to throw an elbow but misses.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Knox digs a right hand underneath Tatum's ribcage. Tatum let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Knox unloads a knee to the mid-section. Tatum lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Tatum is breathing heavily.
Knox using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Tatum has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Knox has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Tatum seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Knox can turn it around.
Tatum misses with the head strike.
Knox goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Knox tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Tatum is looking to control Knox's arms but Knox gets an underhook and turns him. Now Tatum has his back to the ropes.

Knox struggles to land a body shot inside as Tatum controls his hands.
Tatum lands a right hand that snaps the head of Knox backwards.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Knox landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Knox pushes Tatum back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Tatum is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.
Knox is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Tatum is defending well for now.
Knox misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Tatum.
Knox unloads a knee to the mid-section. Tatum lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Tatum doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Knox can't find room to land a body shot as Tatum controls the action.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Riley Knox dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jayson Tatum's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Tatum misses with a right hand
and Knox counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Tatum thinking.

Knox cracks Tatum with a perfect right hand that drops him to the mat! Tatum is sitting up but I can't see if he's OK from my position. The referee's count has reached 5,6,7 and Tatum is still not up. Can he make it? 8,9, he's up! Wow, he cut that one a bit fine!

Tatum is rocked!

Knox closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.

This has been an exciting period of action!

The crowd are calling 'kneeees!' as Knox has the Thai clinch. Knox obliges, smashing a knee brutally into Tatum's nose and sending him crashing to the canvas! Will be beat the count?! 3,4,5,6,7,8...9... and he's up on 9! Wow, that was close! The referee takes a long look and is going to allow it to continue!
Oh Tatum is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Jayson Tatum's cut is getting worse.

Knox has Tatum up against the ropes in a clinch.
Knox connects with a knee right up the middle! Tatum tumbles to the floor and Knox stands over him, dominant and satisfied with his glorious KO victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Riley Knox! Riley Knox retains his light heavyweight title!
