PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Richard Hall (ranked 2144 p4p, 3235 weight class) and Mike Schultz (ranked 229 p4p, 320 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Richard Hall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Mike Schultz!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Peter Branson and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hall attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Schultz changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hall looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Hall struggling a bit here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schultz is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Let's hope that Schultz has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
It looks like Schultz might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Schultz has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at HB Training center. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hall can't do much from the bottom here.

Schultz is trying to get an arm triangle but Hall is defending well.
Hall definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Schultz is putting a hurting on Hall here, landing some big shots from side control.

Hall can't do much from the bottom here.
Schultz throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Hall is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Schultz off and has taken his back!

Schultz is in a bad position with Hall working for a choke. Schultz manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.

Schultz seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hall looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Schultz is defending well. Hall quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Schultz has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Hall celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Richard Hall!
A relieved looking Richard Hall thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
