Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Sanchez (ranked 704 p4p, 643 weight class) and Darry Curtis (ranked 97 p4p, 89 weight class). Curtis has chosen Stevie Wonder - Stay Gold as his entrance music. Samuel Sanchez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Samuel Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Darry Curtis!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez walks into a stiff left hand from Curtis.

Curtis throws out a leg kick but Sanchez moves out of range and Curtis only half commits.
Sanchez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Curtis but Curtis pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Curtis is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
We've been informed that Curtis has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Sanchez throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Curtis on the side of the head.

Sanchez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Sanchez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Curtis as he jumps to the side.

It looks like Sanchez has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.

and Curtis counters with a slapping leg kick.
Sanchez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Curtis manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Sanchez uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Curtis.

Curtis pivots, looking for a leg kick but Sanchez is out of range and Curtis settles back down.

That was a close second round but I would say that Samuel Sanchez will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Sanchez is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Curtis lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Sanchez is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Curtis.

Some bone on bone action there as Sanchez checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Sanchez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Sanchez has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Curtis is working away from the top position though.
Sanchez wants to sweep but Curtis has passed to side control!

Curtis decides to stand up, so the ref orders Sanchez to his feet.
Sanchez scores with a sloppy right hand. Curtis should have avoided that one.

I think Curtis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
