PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Nakamoto (ranked 3491 p4p, 5580 weight class) and Thierry Bailly (ranked 349 p4p, 454 weight class). Bailly has chosen MMA Entrance Music / Dustin Poirier as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Kenji Nakamoto has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenji Nakamoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thierry Bailly!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bailly throws a series of strikes that have Nakamoto backpedaling.
Bailly throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Nakamoto counters with a nice body kick.
Nakamoto dodges the punch combination from Bailly.
Nakamoto darts in looking for a takedown but Bailly gets double underhooks and turns Nakamoto into the cage.
Nakamoto is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bailly pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Bailly gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Nakamoto.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kenji Nakamoto. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nakamoto is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Bailly gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Bailly's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bailly tries a head kick but it misses.
Nakamoto on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Nakamoto misses with a takedown attempt - Bailly sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Bailly throws a hook but Nakamoto blocks it.

Nakamoto dives in for a single leg takedown but Bailly sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Nakamoto on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Bailly. Bailly obviously looking to wear him down.
Thierry Bailly is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bailly looks to land a combination but Nakamoto avoids it well.

Nakamoto closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bailly circles away.
Nakamoto slips a jab and a cross from Bailly.
Bailly fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nakamoto is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bailly sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Bailly tries to land a front kick but Nakamoto steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Bailly slaps away a takedown attempt from Nakamoto, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Nakamoto is breathing heavily.
Bailly lands a glancing blow to the side of Nakamoto's head.
Thierry Bailly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bailly throws a nice looking combination but Nakamoto bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Bailly misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Nakamoto.
Bailly feints and then cracks Nakamoto's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Nakamoto down.
Bailly keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Bailly throws a right and a left that Nakamoto avoids nicely.
Bailly tries a head kick but it misses.
Nakamoto is looking for a counter combo.
Bailly swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nakamoto shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bailly as he jumps to the side.
Bailly leaves Nakamoto with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Bailly throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Horrible takedown attempt by Nakamoto or perhaps it was just good defense by Bailly, which made it look bad.
Nakamoto avoids a punch combination nicely.
Bailly cracks Nakamoto with a good jab.
Nakamoto blocks the body kick.
A punch combination from Bailly misses.
Nakamoto slips under a jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Some wild striking there from Bailly.
A little feinted left hand from Nakamoto on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Bailly goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Nakamoto fails to land the takedown.
Bailly feints the counter takedown.
Bailly misses with a few strikes there.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nakamoto dodges the punch combination from Bailly.
Nakamoto fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Nakamoto shoots in but no luck this time.
Nakamoto misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Thierry Bailly dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Some wild striking there from Bailly.
Nice sprawl there from Bailly as Nakamoto shoots in.
Bailly throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nakamoto closes the distance and clinches up with Bailly, looking for a takedown. Nakamoto pushes Bailly against the cage but Bailly circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Bailly lands the left hand.
Bailly's jab looks to have found its range, popping Nakamoto under the eye.
A combination from Bailly does no damage.
Bailly tries to land a front kick but Nakamoto steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Bailly with a hook.

Nakamoto is rocked!
Bailly has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bailly throws an overhand right that has Nakamoto reeling! Bailly follows up with more punches and Nakamoto is out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Thierry Bailly!
An intense looking Thierry Bailly took to the microphone post fight and gave a little speech: 'A big thanks to the GAMMA: Development League for having the chance fighting here tonight.
