Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Durant (ranked 2426 p4p, 2972 weight class) and Mitar Mrkela (ranked 318 p4p, 374 weight class). Mitar Mrkela has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin Durant! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mitar Mrkela! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Gwen Towbar and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mrkela looking to score a takedown here. Durant is defending well but Mrkela drives through and ends up in Durant's guard. Durant trying to control the position.
Durant seems keen to control Mrkela's posture. Mrkela slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Durant tries to land a sweep but no joy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Durant looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Mrkela puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mrkela prevents Durant from improving his position. Durant keeps control of the position for the meantime. Durant continues to stall. Durant is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. A nice leg kick lands there from Durant.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Durant throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mrkela throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Durant's waist but Durant gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mrkela off to one side. Nice takedown defense from Durant. No joy for Mrkela on that attempt. Mrkela chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Durant can pounce on him.
Mrkela fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Durant avoids it really well and circles away. Kevin Durant has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mitar Mrkela. Durant thumps Mrkela with a low kick. Mitar Mrkela seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mrkela fails with the takedown and Durant counters with a straight right hand.
It looks like Mitar Mrkela has been cut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mrkela shoots and misses and Mrkela takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Durant lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Durant displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mrkela. Mrkela with a lazy takedown attempt and Durant counters with a nice uppercut. Mrkela doesn't succeed with the takedown and Durant counters with a head kick that drops Mrkela to the mat! Mrkela scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Mrkela is rocked! Durant lands an uppercut, right on the button! Mrkela tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kevin Durant! Kevin Durant took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
