PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pygmy Lack (ranked 24694 p4p, 23654 weight class) and Brenon Conors (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Pygmy Lack!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brenon Conors!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Phil Schofield and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lack leaves Conors with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Lack stuffs the takedown.
Conors has his takedown stuffed
and Lack counters with a two punch combo.
Pygmy Lack has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brenon Conors.
Conors looks winded!

Lack moves into the clinch successfully.
A right hand to the body from Lack.
Lack can't get the takedown.
Lack is trying to push Conors away but Conors has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lack looking for a guillotine here but Conors defends easily.

Lack pushes Conors off and gets back to his feet.

Lack throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Conors's waist but Conors gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lack off to one side.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Conors shoots in but no luck this time.
Lack misses with a takedown attempt - Conors sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Lack tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Conors just stands there and leans against the cage.
Lack drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Lack is trying to force a seperation but Conors has the dominant position.

Conors fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Lack tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Stalling in the clinch from Lack.
Lack tries for a takedown. No joy.
Conors blocks an elbow strike from Lack.
Lack blocks an uppercut.
Lack looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lack tries to pull guard but Conors forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Conors swings wildly with an uppercut but Lack uses good head movement to avoid it.

Lack pushes Conors back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Lack is looking to break free of the clinch but Conors has double underhooks.
Conors gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Lack.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Conors throws a head punch that misses.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Brenon Conors will probably get the nod - 10:9.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Conors shoots for a double leg takedown but Lack sprawls well. He's pushed Conors's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lack throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Conors with the counter takedown but Lack avoids it easily.
Conors shoots in and drives through. Lack sprawls well.

Lack tries to break the clinch but Conors is controlling the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lack blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Lack pulls guard.
Conors postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Conors is in close to Lack's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Conors throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Lack working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Conors doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Conors manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Lack is trying to keep Conors in close.

Lack has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Conors can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Pygmy Lack overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Conors throws a strike but Lack rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Lack stands up from Conors's guard - Lack perhaps looking for a knockout.
Lack shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Conors pinned against the cage. Conors gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Pygmy Lack is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Conors keeps the fight on the outside.

and Conors takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Conors stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Conors wants it to stay on the feet.

Conors dives in and grabs Lack's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lack pushes down on Conors's head and hops out.

Lack keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Lack looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Conors is fending him off so far but Lack persists. Nope, Conors circles away and we're back to standing.
Conors shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Lack counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Conors misses with a takedown
and Lack connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Conors gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Lack counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Pygmy Lack showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Lack has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
