Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 4850 p4p, 3730 weight class) and Arthur Douglas (ranked 585 p4p, 478 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arthur Douglas!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Jonathan Paton and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Mir slips under a jab.
Douglas throws a left and a right that both miss

and Mir counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Douglas can't keep his opponent in guard - Mir advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Mir stalling away here and it's allowed Douglas to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Douglas preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Mir has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Mir engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mir accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mir trying to control but Douglas is working from the bottom.
Mir wants to pass the guard but Douglas is keeping the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Douglas can do anything to dispel that myth.

Douglas wants to sweep here but Mir controlling him for the moment.
Mir trying to control but Douglas is working from the bottom.
Mir won't allow Douglas to sweep him here.
Douglas has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Mir is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Douglas is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Douglas has escaped and now he's on top!

Douglas pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mir is keeping the position for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Mir has his foot on Douglas's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Douglas works his way back into a safe position though.

Douglas gets to his feet - Mir follows without any prompting.
Douglas cracks Mir with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Douglas fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Mir on the side of the head.

It looks like Frank Mir has been cut.
A punch combination from Douglas misses.
Douglas looks to score with a jab to the body but Mir is just out of range.
Mir attempts a counter takedown but Douglas avoids it well and moves away.
Douglas throws a hook to the side of Mir's head but Mir sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
A left lands for Douglas.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Douglas lands a jab to Mir's midsection.
Douglas throws a jab when Mir was well out of range.
Douglas lands a glancing blow to the side of Mir's head.
Douglas lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mir circles away quickly and effectively.
Douglas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mir manages to avoid it.
Mir changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Mir uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Douglas.
Mir half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Douglas swinging wildly here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mir walks into a left hand.
Douglas throws out a loose jab but Mir uses good head movement to avoid it.
Mir drops down looking for a counter takedown but Douglas sprawls and moves away.
Douglas throws a body punch but Mir moves out of range.
Mir tries to counter with a takedown but Douglas is quick to defend against it.
Nice body punch from Douglas.
Douglas lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Mir at a distance.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Douglas misses the jab.
Douglas with a hook.

Douglas lands a big right hand that sends Mir crashing to the mat! Douglas stays standing though and waves Mir back to his feet!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Arthur Douglas dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Frank Mir's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Mir gets tagged by a hook that puts him to sleep! Douglas points and yells something to his unconcious foe before strutting off. Mir wakes up just in time to hear Douglas thank his coaches in the post fight interview.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Arthur Douglas!
Our winner, Arthur Douglas, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
