Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fred Hoyle (ranked 3173 p4p, 3297 weight class) and Stevo Caruga (ranked 408 p4p, 426 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Fred Hoyle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Stevo Caruga! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Santiago Holmes and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hoyle connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Caruga momentarily.
Hoyle throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Caruga ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Caruga shoots in for a takedown but Hoyle shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Caruga slips under a jab. Caruga feints the counter takedown. Caruga has a takedown stuffed. Caruga tries to clinch but Hoyle moves out of range. Caruga tries to clinch but Hoyle moves away and Hoyle counters with a lovely straight right hand! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hoyle lands a jab to the nose. Caruga's coach down at Cozad The Island was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Caruga's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Hoyle lands a nice looking body shot.
The fighters circle momentarily. Hoyle darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Hoyle comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Caruga shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Caruga was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Caruga wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hoyle, who protects the arm well. Caruga is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Hoyle knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Caruga has hold of Hoyle's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Hoyle tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Caruga cranks the arm and Hoyle screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Hoyle, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Stevo Caruga!
