Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Pasi Putkinen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kashihiro Akiyama! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Akiyama fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Akiyama jabbing away but nothing is landing. Akiyama misses with a few strikes there.

Akiyama throws a hook but Putkinen blocks it. Kashihiro Akiyama seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Akiyama throws a right hand that Putkinen ducks under and follows up with a left that Putkinen also avoids with ease. No joy there for Akiyama, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Putkinen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Putkinen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Putkinen seems to be working for a kimura but Akiyama defends the submission attempt.
That's one minute gone in the round. Putkinen is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Putkinen pushing down on Akiyama's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Putkinen not landing any meaningful shots this time. Putkinen is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Putkinen is trying to control the action in half guard but Akiyama is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Putkinen wants to advance to full mount but Akiyama doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Putkinen tries to free his leg and advance position but Akiyama is retaining full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Putkinen trying to control the position from guard on top but Akiyama is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Putkinen slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Putkinen is breathing heavily. Putkinen trying to control the action but Akiyama is working from the bottom. Putkinen is trying to ground and pound but Akiyama uses the momentary lack of control by Putkinen to regain half guard. Putkinen is keen to just control but Akiyama is a slippery customer.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Putkinen trying to mount his opponent but Akiyama defends it. Akiyama looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Putkinen looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Akiyama is looking to improve his position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Akiyama looks to land a combination but Putkinen avoids it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Akiyama throws a hook but Putkinen blocks it. Akiyama uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Putkinen. The fighters circling - Akiyama throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Akiyama circles away from the clinch attempt.
Putkinen avoids a punch combination nicely.
Putkinen looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Akiyama makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Akiyama. Putkinen trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Akiyama working for a triangle but Putkinen defends it easily.
Putkinen works a leg free and moves into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pasi Putkinen dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Akiyama throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Akiyama avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Akiyama throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Putkinen sees it coming and avoids it easily. Putkinen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Akiyama lands a left and a right that sends Putkinen crashing to the canvas! Akiyama dives into mount looking to finish!
Putkinen is rocked!
It looks like Pasi Putkinen has been cut. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Akiyama has isolated one of Putkinen's arms. Putkinen looking to fight him off but Akiyama twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
