PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Azor Ahai (ranked 983 p4p, 1285 weight class) and Paul Joseph Watson (ranked 143 p4p, 192 weight class). Watson has chosen Anarchy in the UK as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Azor Ahai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Joseph Watson!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ahai misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A swing and a miss from Ahai.
Ahai dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Ahai works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Ahai throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Watson on the side of the head.
Watson feints and then cracks Ahai's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ahai down.

Watson throws a right hand that misses
and Ahai counters with a nice body kick.
Paul Joseph Watson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Watson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Ahai feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Watson takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Watson pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Ahai misses with an uppercut. Watson saw that one coming.

Watson tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Watson gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Watson takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Watson steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Ahai. That one must have hurt.
Good work by Watson as he checks the leg kick.

Watson throws a low kick, looking for Ahai's leg but Ahai calmly moves out of range.
Watson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Ahai to score with a decent uppercut.

Ahai looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Ahai misses with an uppercut. Watson saw that one coming.

Watson throws out a counter right but Ahai avoids it with no problem.
Ahai connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Ahai throws a right hand that Watson ducks under and follows up with a left that Watson also avoids with ease.

Watson tries to work over Ahai's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Ahai misses with a short punch on the inside.
Watson digs a right hand underneath Ahai's ribcage. Ahai let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Watson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ahai gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Watson.
Ahai throws an overhand right that lands on Watson's shoulder, as Watson tries to avoid the shot.
Ahai throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Ahai leaves Watson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ahai lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

Ahai has taken the fight to the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Watson is trying to trip Ahai. He has hold of a leg but Ahai is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Watson persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Watson wants the takedown. Ahai is fighting it off but Watson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Ahai's guard against the cage.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Watson is on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Watson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Ahai does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ahai moves into full guard.
Ahai pulls Watson in close to prevent any damage.
Watson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ahai works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Watson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A close second round but Paul Joseph Watson will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Ahai gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ahai bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Watson's guard.

Ahai takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Watson drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Ahai defends it well.

Ahai tries to close the distance and clinch up but Watson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Watson! But no joy.
Both fighters circling a little - Watson finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Watson shoots in looking for a takedown but Ahai manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Watson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
A looping hook to the body misses from Watson. Ahai does a little dance to reset his feet.

Ahai lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Ahai creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
