Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between LaVell Marks (ranked 4952 p4p, 5367 weight class) and Calan Smith (ranked 557 p4p, 580 weight class). Calan Smith is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Calan Smith!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marks tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Smith swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Marks displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Smith throws out the jab.
Marks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Smith lands a jab to the nose.
Marks is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.
Marks takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Marks gets a clinch.
Marks with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Marks jumps guard but Smith turns him against the ropes and keeps the fight standing.
Smith drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
Marks has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Smith avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Marks has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Smith is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

and Marks connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smith avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Smith throws out a loose jab but Marks uses good head movement to avoid it.

Smith gets a clinch.
Marks misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Smith dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the ropes.

Smith escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Marks shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Marks keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Marks closes the distance and clinches up with Smith, looking for a takedown. Marks pushes Smith against the ropes but Smith circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Marks throws a left and a right that both miss
and Smith counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Smith avoids the body shot from Marks.
Smith looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Smith rushes Marks and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.

Smith escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Marks fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Marks goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Calan Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It looks like LaVell Marks has been cut.
Marks tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Smith counters with a crisp right hand that drops Marks! Smith lets Marks back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Marks is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Smith cracks Marks with a hook to the temple - Marks is on wobbly legs here! Smith swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Marks falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Smith wins by TKO!
