PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Will Win (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Cheng (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cheng blocks a head kick by Win.
Cheng throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Win doesn't manage to clinch there - Cheng circles away.
Cheng fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Cheng.

Cheng goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Win has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Cheng but great work by Win.
Cheng tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Win wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Win wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cheng keeps working.
An elbow from Win crashes against the mat.
Win lands a nice forearm strike.
Win tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Cheng tries to buck Win off but Win is having none of it.
Win trying to control the position but Cheng is working away.
Win throwing shots but missing, from side control.

Cheng defending against the ground and pound.
Win grinds an elbow into Cheng's temple.

Cheng regains half guard.
Cheng is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are battling for position here. Cheng manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Win trying to control the position from guard on top but Cheng is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Win lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Cheng wants to sweep here but Win controlling him for the moment.
Cheng is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Win is pressing down on Cheng's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Win is breathing heavily.

Win working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Cheng.
Cheng advances to half guard.
Win is looking to control Cheng's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Win avoid being mounted?
Cheng landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Win might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Win is not content to let Cheng control the position.
Cheng thows a huge punch but Win dodges it nicely.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Cheng counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Cheng.
Win avoiding damage as Cheng throws knees to the body.

Cheng jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Win walks away with a smile on his face. Cheng gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Cheng swats away the attempt to clinch by Win.
Win lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Cheng at a distance.
Win is looking to clinch.
Win works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Win displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Win fails with the takedown

and Cheng counters with a nice double leg into side control. Win won't be happy with that.
Cheng trying to control the action but Win is working from the bottom.
Win is looking for a sweep.

Cheng wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Win, who protects the arm well.
Cheng is looking to take a break and control but Win is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Win is looking to reverse the position.

Cheng is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Win knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Win is trying to control Cheng's posture but Cheng avoids it.
Win is trying to get back to half guard.

Cheng working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Win is looking for a sweep.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Charles Cheng dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Win.
Win throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Cheng gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Win counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Win.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cheng is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Cheng pushes a forearm under Win's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Win is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
