Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Trent Punchy (ranked 11435 p4p, 23990 weight class) and Jake Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson has chosen Berzerk by Eminem as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 46 - 46 - 1, fighting out of London, Trent Punchy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jake Peterson! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Colin Fotheringham and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Peterson throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Peterson misses with a double jab.
Peterson wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Peterson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Punchy. Peterson fails to land with a series of punches.
A little feinted left hand from Punchy on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Peterson manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Punchy on his heels. He'll look to pass Punchy's guard now, I'm sure. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Peterson working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Punchy looking for a guillotine here but Peterson defends easily.
Peterson advances position into side control! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Punchy is breathing heavily. Peterson lands some shots froms side control. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Punchy prevents Peterson from improving position. Punchy is not content to let Peterson control the position. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Peterson stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Peterson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Peterson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Peterson has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Peterson throws a series of punches but Punchy avoids them all with ease. Punchy feinted with a counter takedown. Peterson pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Punchy back to the cage. Peterson follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Peterson lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Punchy has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Jake Peterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. And that's the end of the fight! Jake Peterson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Peterson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
