Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergeant Smash (ranked 186 p4p, 331 weight class) and Terry Tungsten (ranked 4 p4p, 11 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Tungsten's choice of entrance music: Cover of The Rolling Stone by Dr. Hook. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sergeant Smash!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Terry Tungsten!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tungsten is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

It looks like Terry Tungsten has been cut.
Tungsten misses with an uppercut.
Tungsten ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smash moves away.
Tungsten scores with a hook.
Smash throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tungsten looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Tungsten's coach down at Rough House was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Tungsten's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Smash misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Tungsten counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Tungsten on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Tungsten throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Smash throws a hook to the side of Tungsten's head but Tungsten sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Tungsten gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tungsten throws a series of punches but Smash avoids them all with ease.
Smash fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Tungsten on the side of the head.
Smash works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Tungsten loads up on a big right hand but Smash slips the punch.
Tungsten throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Smash sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Smash swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Tungsten lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Smash clinches up with Tungsten and pushes him back against the cage.
Smash blocks a body shot from Tungsten.
Tungsten tries to work over Smash's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Smash lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Smash is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Smash's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Tungsten lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Smash backwards.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Tungsten's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Smash throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Tungsten sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Tungsten is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Smash with a body shot.
Tungsten ducks right into an uppercut from Smash.
Good exchange - Tungsten coming out on top.
Smash scores with a nice right hand.
Tungsten keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Smash has been working on his balance at GWad's Playpen, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Tungsten.
Smash fails in his attempt to clinch.
Smash just misses with a punch to the body.
Tungsten tries to bum rush Smash with a series of wild strikes but Smash uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Tungsten gets caught napping as Smash dives in and scores a takedown. Tungsten manages to retain guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Smash wants to control from the top but Tungsten keeps moving.
Smash won't allow Tungsten to get back to his feet.
Tungsten really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smash. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Smash pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tungsten is keeping the position for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Smash wants to clinch up but Tungsten keeps it at a distance.

Smash has closed the distance and engaged Tungsten in a clinch.

Smash wants the takedown. Tungsten is fighting it off but Smash persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Tungsten's guard against the cage.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Sergeant Smash will probably get the nod.

Tungsten throws a right hand that Smash ducks under and follows up with a left that Smash also avoids with ease.
Terry Tungsten has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Smash is looking to clinch but Tungsten is avoiding it.

Smash throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Tungsten now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tungsten throws a lazy right hand but Smash sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Tungsten moves into range and connects with a jab.

Tungsten might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Smash drives through with a takedown into guard.

Smash passes into half guard.
Smash wants to take a breather but Tungsten is having none of it.
Tungsten looks like he's trying to stand up.
Smash is taking a breather. Tungsten says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Smash tries to pass the half guard into mount. Tungsten knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Smash is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tungsten can do anything to dispel that myth.
Smash is trying to control the action in half guard but Tungsten is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Tungsten jabs Smash right on the nose. Smash blinks but takes it well.

Sergeant Smash seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smash throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Tungsten sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A nice side step and Tungsten releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Tungsten throws the left hand but Smash avoids the punch easily.
Smash lands a right hook to the body.
Smash misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Smash looks to throw the jab but Tungsten is out of range.

Smash shoots in looking for a takedown but Tungsten manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Smash's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Sergeant Smash will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Smash throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tungsten's waist but Tungsten gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smash off to one side.
Smash tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Tungsten manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Tungsten throws a hook to the side of Smash's head but Smash sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Smash uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Tungsten.
Tungsten dodges the punch combination from Smash.
Smash swings for the body but Tungsten moves out of range.

Tungsten escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Tungsten connects with a right hand. Smash shakes it off.
Tungsten throws a sloppy body shot
and Smash cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Smash thows a left - swing and a miss!
Tungsten lands a jab to Smash's midsection.
Smash wants to clinch.
Tungsten swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Smash.

Smash scores with a hook.
Tungsten throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Sergeant Smash is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Smash connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
A jab from Smash finds it's way through Tungsten's defenses.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tungsten misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Smash.

Smash prevents a body shot from Tungsten.
Smash is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Tungsten gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

A short right hand to the side of the head by Tungsten.
Still in the clinch, Tungsten scores with a nice short uppercut.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tungsten seems a little lost for a moment, as Smash dominates the positioning.
Smash wants to control but Tungsten is keeping him busy.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Terry Tungsten.
I think Smash has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Sergeant Smash took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
The defeated Terry Tungsten had this to say: 'That man hits harder than me ex on a bender…and if she taught me anything, it’s that I’ll bounce back from this loss and sleep with my opponents sister. '.
