The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Marco Blurström and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mesquita is trying hard to land a takedown here. McJerkins sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Mesquita displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as McJerkins throws out the jab.

McJerkins scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Flerkin McJerkins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nixon Mesquita.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mesquita sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but McJerkins is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Mesquita is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. McJerkins knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Mesquita remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
McJerkins tries to improve position but can't.

Mesquita has hold of McJerkins's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! McJerkins tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Mesquita cranks the arm and McJerkins screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from McJerkins, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
