The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meier connects with a right hand. Gomes shakes it off.
Meier is looking to clinch but Gomes is avoiding it.
Gomes bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Gomes tries to keep at a distance but Meier has taken the fight into the clinch.
Meier misses with some punches.
Gomes decides to pull guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gomes is trying to keep Meier in close.
Meier postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Meier really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gomes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Meier is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Gomes has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Meier should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Gomes has tightened it up now! Meier should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
