Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Corin David (ranked 2218 p4p, 3279 weight class) and Wilbur Ratt (ranked 272 p4p, 381 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Corin David!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wilbur Ratt!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Jorge Garcia and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ratt tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and David counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Ratt!
Ratt is looking to reverse the position.
Ratt managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by David.

David tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no David has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

David is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Ratt has escaped the position, nice work there.
Ratt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with David. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

David is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ratt knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
David tries to move to mount but Ratt blocks the move with his legs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
David is working hard here to advance position.

David looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
David has knee on belly and moves into mount.
BOOM! David connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
David can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Ratt is looking to escape.

David sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
David landing punches.
David tries to control but Ratt wriggling away.

David goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Ratt is on top in guard.

David is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

David trying to mount his opponent but Ratt defends it.

David is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ratt defends it well.
David looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

David is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Ratt!
David is stalling here but it's allowed Ratt to get half guard.
Ratt gets full guard.
David slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
David throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Ratt is not content to let David control the position.
Ratt dodges the ground and pound from David.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
David tries to move to mount but Ratt blocks the move with his legs.
Ratt is trying to improve his position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Ratt closes the distance and clinches.
David is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Ratt to keep the fight standing.
Ratt throws a head punch that misses.
David tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Ratt smiles and moves away.
Ratt fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. David looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Ratt swings widly with a right hand

and David counters with a single leg into guard. Ratt didn't expect that.

David pushes down on Ratt's leg and manages to get into half guard.
David wants to pass the guard but Ratt is defending well.

David looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ratt with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
David looks to land a strike but Ratt avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as David accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Ratt working a defensive guard here.
David wants to pass the guard but Ratt is keeping the position.
David has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

David is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
David wants to control from the top but Ratt keeps moving.
David advances to half guard.

David is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ratt defends it well.
David tries to pass the half guard into mount. Ratt knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
David drops an elbow to the side of Ratt's head.

David is looking for a kimura here.

Ratt wants to control but David is keeping busy and won't allow it.

David seems to be working for a kimura but Ratt defends the submission attempt.

David seems to be looking for submissions.
David passes to full mount!

David moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Ratt has worked his arm free - good work by Ratt!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
David trying to control the position but Ratt is working away.

David is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Ratt knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Ratt is trying to improve his position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ratt struggling a bit here.
Ratt is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Ratt misses with a two punch combination.
David drops down looking for a counter takedown but Ratt sprawls and moves away.
Ratt wants to clinch.

and David counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by David.
David trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
David is pushing down on Ratt's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ratt is fighting to maintain full guard but David has managed to sneak the leg through.

David is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Ratt sees it coming and defends easily.

Ratt is in trouble now - David has advanced to mount!

David misses with a head shot.
David postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Ratt looks a forlorn figure.

Corin David is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Ratt wants to hold on but David pushes him away.
David lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Ratt hang on?
Corin David overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Ratt is squirming around, avoiding David's attempts to control the action.

David drops a big elbow. That's hurt Ratt! More shots from David and the ref steps in! The fight is over!

Corin David decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
