A nice inside leg kick there by Thortnon. That's going to slow Quente down.
Quente throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Thortnon drops Quente with a left right combo! Thortnon follows him down to the ground into side control.

It looks like Ferro Quente has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Quente tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Quente wants to control but Thortnon postures up.

Quente is letting Thortnon control him for a moment.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Quente can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Quente wants to sweep but no luck.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Thortnon's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Thortnon duly obliges.

Quente fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Thortnon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Quente on the ground.

Quente takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
The cut above Ferro Quente's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Thortnon lands with a thumping leg kick.
Thortnon avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Thortnon throws a head kick that half lands.
Thortnon lands with a big right hook that stumbles Quente - he's out on his feet here! Thortnon follows up with another monster hook that separates Quente from consciousness! Quente falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Thortnon stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
