PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hyseon Whang (ranked 3364 p4p, 3222 weight class) and Rengar Tritty (ranked 439 p4p, 418 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Whang might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to A History of Bad Men. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hyseon Whang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rengar Tritty!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Columbo Gatti and Jonathan Paton.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Whang closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Tritty did well to prevent Whang getting side control.
Whang is stalling here. Tritty is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Whang seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Tritty has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Whang is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Whang is trying to control Tritty's posture but Tritty avoids it.
Whang is looking for a sweep.

Whang fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tritty manages to avoid it.
Rengar Tritty is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Whang looks to throw the jab but Tritty is out of range.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Tritty! But no joy.
Whang misses with a right hand
and Tritty counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Tritty bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Whang throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tritty swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Tritty uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Whang.
Tritty throws a looping overhand right but Whang ducks down to avoid it.
Whang feinted with a counter takedown.
Tritty has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Whang is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Despite the aggression on Tritty's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Whang throws a solid leg kick but Tritty takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Whang.
Whang misses with a wild body shot.
Whang throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Tritty counters with a left and a right that stings Whang.
Tritty keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Tritty! But no joy.
Tritty stuffs the takedown.

Whang misses the shot to the body.
Tritty looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Whang throws a shot from downtown. Tritty moves away and avoids it.
Tritty is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Whang could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Tritty enables Whang to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Tritty manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Whang is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Whang wants to control from the top but Tritty keeps moving.

A close round but Rengar Tritty will probably get the nod.

and Tritty cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Tritty connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Whang is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Tritty's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.
Whang shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Tritty counters with a straight right hand.
Whang throws a lazy right hand but Tritty sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Tritty regains half guard there - taking advantage of Whang's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Tritty is looking to escape.
Whang passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Tritty!

Whang is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Tritty has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Tritty!

Whang pulls Tritty in close to prevent any damage.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Whang has his foot on Tritty's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tritty works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Whang is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Tritty has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Whang changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tritty looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rengar Tritty comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Tritty has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
