PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dominick Ball (ranked 4764 p4p, 3024 weight class) and Mark Hitch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dominick Ball!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Hitch!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Chris Dean and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ball closes the distance looking to clinch
enabling Hitch to counter with a crisp jab.

It looks like Dominick Ball has been cut.
Ball closes the distance and clinches up with Hitch, looking for a takedown. Ball pushes Hitch against the cage but Hitch circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hitch goes for a double leg but Ball avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Ball continues to drive forward.
Ball shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hitch as he avoids it easily.
Ball swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A head kick misses from Hitch.
Ball fires out a quick counter leg kick but Hitch just manages to avoid it.
Ball tries to clinch but Hitch moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ball is defended easily by Hitch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dominick Ball. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hitch looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Ball closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Ball tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hitch smiles and moves away.
Hitch tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ball manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Ball seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Hitch drives through and clinches with Ball against the cage.
Hitch lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Hitch wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ball has him pressed against the cage.
Ball prevents Hitch from breaking the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Hitch takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Ball wants to take the fight to the mat but Hitch manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Ball is trying to drag Hitch to the mat but Hitch just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Ball stalling against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ball wants to break the clinch but can't.
Hitch prevents the takedown attempt.
Hitch has Ball pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ball manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Ball is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Hitch pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Hitch tries to land knees in the clinch but Ball avoids the damage to the body.
Hitch misses with a hook to the ribs.
Ball changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hitch fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ball is breathing heavily.
Ball keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hitch has managed to clinch.
Hitch blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Hitch lands with a left to the head.
Ball landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Ball is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Hitch pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Hitch crunches a lovely knee into Ball's ribcage.

Hitch pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hitch shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ball as he jumps to the side.

Hitch gets a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Hitch successfully pulls guard.

Hitch working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ball doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Hitch is tightening it up a little... Ball has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Ball reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Ball taps out! Nice BJJ there by Hitch!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Mark Hitch!
