Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Russel Wilson (ranked 2529 p4p, 24104 weight class) and James Shortman (ranked 87 p4p, 241 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Russel Wilson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Russel Wilson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Russel Wilson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Shortman!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilson gets caught flat footed, as Shortman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Wilson pulls Shortman in close to prevent any damage.
Wilson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Shortman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Shortman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shortman drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wilson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wilson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wilson!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shortman manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Shortman wants to work for an arm triangle but Wilson is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Shortman is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Wilson is defending against the submission attempts here by Shortman.
Wilson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Wilson preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Shortman postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Wilson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Shortman, into his guard.
Wilson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Wilson lands a couple of elbows.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Wilson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
It looks like James Shortman has been cut.
Wilson chips away with some ground and pound.
Wilson content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Wilson has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Shortman to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Wilson is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Shortman pulls down on the head and he's put Wilson to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). James Shortman!
