Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Barnes (ranked 827 p4p, 1173 weight class) and Konichiwa Jempsa (ranked 119 p4p, 161 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andrew Barnes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 24 - 14 - 0, fighting out of London, Konichiwa Jempsa! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jempsa shoots in and drives through. Barnes sprawls well. A counter left hand to the body from Barnes misses its target. Barnes keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Barnes bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Barnes tries to counter with a takedown but Jempsa is quick to defend against it. Barnes throws a shot to the body.
Barnes lands a really nice looking cross but Jempsa seems unphased.
Jempsa scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Jempsa prevents Barnes from improving his position. Still in half guard, Jempsa seems content to control. Jempsa thows a huge punch but Barnes dodges it nicely.
Barnes is pressing down on Jempsa's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Jempsa content to stall in guard here. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Jempsa working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jempsa works over Barnes with some ground and pound from guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barnes pulls Jempsa in close to prevent any damage. Barnes is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jempsa not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Barnes working a defensive guard here.
Jempsa landing with the ground and pound. Barnes looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jempsa is one step ahead there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Jempsa controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Barnes has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Jempsa has passed into side control.
Jempsa wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Barnes, who protects the arm well. Barnes is trying to control Jempsa's posture but Jempsa avoids it. Jempsa gets to mount! Barnes was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Barnes tries to reverse the position but Jempsa maintains control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barnes holds of for dear life. Jempsa postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Barnes looks a forlorn figure.

Barnes tries to buck Jempsa off but he can't manage it. Barnes tries to reverse the position but Jempsa maintains control. Barnes taking shots to the head. Barnes can't escape the position.
Jempsa pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Barnes keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Jempsa takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Barnes is trying desperately to improve position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jempsa controlling the position easily from mount. It looks like Jempsa might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jempsa working away from the top, dropping strikes. Barnes tries to hold on but Jempsa postures up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Barnes is looking to improve his position but Jempsa isn't that keen on the idea. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jempsa tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Konichiwa Jempsa dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Barnes takes a shot right to the bread basket. Jempsa shoots in for a takedown but Barnes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Jempsa walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Barnes throws a right hand that Jempsa ducks under and follows up with a left that Jempsa also avoids with ease. Jempsa shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barnes but Barnes pushes him off and we're back to square one. A counter left hand to the body from Barnes misses its target. Jempsa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Barnes counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Andrew Barnes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Konichiwa Jempsa. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jempsa jabs Barnes to the body, keeping him at a distance. Jempsa gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Barnes. Barnes lands a head shot. Jempsa throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Jempsa takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jempsa shoots in for a takedown but Barnes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Jempsa changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Barnes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Barnes tries to get back to half guard but can't. Jempsa lands a few punches from side control. Barnes tries to get back to half guard but can't. Jempsa wants to control but Barnes is keeping him busy.

Barnes controlling the position well. Barnes wants to get back to his feet. Barnes tries to get to full guard but Jempsa has control of the leg. Konichiwa Jempsa has got the better of the ground game so far. Jempsa takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Barnes taking some punishment here, with Jempsa in his half guard. Jempsa is taking a breather. Barnes says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barnes is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Barnes is working hard here to advance position. Jempsa takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Barnes is not content to let Jempsa control the position. Barnes wants to improve his position but Jempsa is controlling well.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Jempsa shoots in looking for a takedown. Barnes tries to sprawl out of it but Jempsa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Barnes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Barnes slaps away a takedown attempt from Jempsa, before circling back to the center of the mat. Barnes tried to counter with a leg kick but Jempsa avoided it. Jempsa goes for a double leg but Barnes avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Barnes continues to drive forward. Barnes throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Jempsa feints and as Barnes raises his hands in defense, Jempsa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Barnes keeping moving, preventing Jempsa from controlling successfully. Barnes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jempsa trying to control but Barnes is working from the bottom. Barnes wants to sweep but no luck. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Jempsa's corner. There ya go! There ya go! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Andrew Barnes dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round! Jempsa fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Jempsa swings away with a body shot that misses
and Barnes counters with a head kick. That will keep Jempsa thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Jempsa shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. As Jempsa backs away, Barnes returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Konichiwa Jempsa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jempsa misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Barnes.

That's one minute gone in the round. Barnes catches Jempsa with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Jempsa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Barnes counters with a two punch combo. Andrew Barnes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Barnes will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Jempsa tries for a takedown but Barnes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Jempsa just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromBarnes. Jempsa fails with a takedown attempt. Barnes is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Jempsa shoots for a takedown but Barnes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Jempsa shoots and misses and Barnes counters with a three punch combo that has Jempsa backing up. Jempsa nods at Barnes to acknowledge the strikes. Barnes keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Barnes throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Jempsa on the side of the head. Jempsa throws a series of punches but Barnes moves out of range. As Jempsa backs away, Barnes returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jempsa swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Jempsa dives in for a single leg takedown but Barnes sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Barnes scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Barnes seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Barnes throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Barnes has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Barnes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jempsa swivels though and keeps the full guard. Barnes with a flurry of punches that miss. Jempsa tries to land a sweep but no joy. Jempsa working a defensive guard but Barnes manages to pass into side control anyway.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Andrew Barnes! Andrew Barnes decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
