Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Blumreisinger (ranked 1378 p4p, 2913 weight class) and Pierre Ragout Mendy (ranked 189 p4p, 368 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Blumreisinger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 18 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pierre Ragout Mendy! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Blumreisinger steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Mendy. Mendy moves forwards but Blumreisinger connects with a nice, crisp jab. Mendy jabs Blumreisinger right on the nose. Blumreisinger blinks but takes it well. Blumreisinger has closed the distance and engaged Mendy in a clinch.

Mendy drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Blumreisinger gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Blumreisinger is pressed up against the cage. Mendy has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Blumreisinger down to the mat. Blumreisinger avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Chris Blumreisinger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pierre Ragout Mendy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Blumreisinger tries to clinch up but Mendy circles away and keeps his distance. And Mendy tries to counter it with a takedown but Blumreisinger pushes his down on his head and steps out. Mendy misses with a double jab.
Mendy misses the jab. Excellent takedown into side control there by Mendy. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Blumreisinger is looking for a sweep.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendy cracks Blumreisinger with a big elbow. Blumreisinger takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
You can see the frustration on Blumreisinger's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Mendy is staying tight to Blumreisinger's torso, preventing him from escaping. Blumreisinger manages to work his way to half guard, despite Mendy's best efforts. Mendy takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Mendy is figuring out what he wants to do next. Mendy winds up and cracks Blumreisinger with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Blumreisinger wants to get back to full guard. Mendy lands with a punch from half guard. Mendy is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Mendy working the head and body with strikes. Mendy is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Still in half guard, Mendy seems content to control. Blumreisinger tries to get to full guard but Mendy has control of the leg. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Mendy tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mendy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Blumreisinger has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mendy has managed to get both his arms back between Blumreisinger's legs - danger averted. Mendy is working Blumreisinger over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Mendy controlling from the top position. Mendy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Blumreisinger has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mendy has managed to get both his arms back between Blumreisinger's legs - danger averted. Mendy is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Blumreisinger working for a triangle but Mendy defends it easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Mendy stopping the sweep attempt from Blumreisinger. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Mendy working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well. Mendy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Mendy lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Blumreisinger has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mendy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The fighters roll with the hold and Blumreisinger manages to kick Mendy off! Mendy jumps back into Blumreisinger's guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mendy connects with a couple of short punches. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Pierre Ragout Mendy dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Mendy misses with a wild body shot. Mendy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Blumreisinger but Blumreisinger pushes him off and we're back to square one. Blumreisinger scoring well with a low kick there.
Blumreisinger scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Mendy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Blumreisinger manages to avoid it. Mendy shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Blumreisinger manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Mendy connects with a couple of short punches. Mendy landing with the ground and pound. We've been hearing good reports from Blumreisinger's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Pierre Ragout Mendy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round! A solid leg kick lands there for Blumreisinger.

Mendy is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Mendy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Mendy working the head with strikes. Mendy has an Americana. Blumreisinger didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Mendy is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Mendy hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
