Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bert River (ranked 1735 p4p, 3084 weight class) and Anti Happy (ranked 189 p4p, 315 weight class). River comes to the cage accompanied by Five Finger Death Punch- Bad Company. Happy has chosen Bvana iz lagune & Mikri Maus - AntiHepi as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bert River! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 10 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anti Happy! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Happy shoots in for a takedown but River shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. No luck with that takedown attempt from Happy. Happy with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling River to score with a decent uppercut. Bert River seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A jab from River misses. A head kick by River misses and Happy counters with a shoot takedown. River fights it but they end up in guard. River throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Happy's corner is telling him to maintain position. Happy connects with a couple of short punches. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. River lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Happy looking for a guillotine here but River defends easily.
Happy controls River momentarily but River frees himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Happy keeping moving, preventing River from controlling successfully. Happy looking for a sweep. Not yet Happy, not yet. Happy is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. River is aware though and is defending well. Happy is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and River defends well. River working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Happy's head. Happy is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. River trying to control but Happy is working from the bottom. Happy is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. River is aware though and is defending well. Happy has an active guard here but River has managed to pass into half guard.
River trying to control from half guard but Happy is working away. River looks to score some points with some ground and pound. River controlling the pace. Happy wants to improve his position but River is controlling well.
Happy actively working from the bottom here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Happy wants to get back to full guard. Happy regains full guard. Nicely done. River trying to control but Happy is working from the bottom. Happy working for submissions but it's allowed River to get to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. River is trying to control the action in half guard but Happy is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Happy looking for submissions from an awkward position here. River is looking for a kimura but Happy is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for River to get the leverage. Happy wants to improve his position but River is controlling well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Happy tries to get to full guard but River has control of the leg. Happy is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Happy wants to control but River is keeping busy.
Happy is controlling River's trapped leg to prevent River from advancing to side control. Happy looking for submissions off his back. Happy on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Happy is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. River is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Happy has managed to free his arm - good work. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Bert River dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Happy's hands are dropping dangerously low here and River connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Happy scrambles back to his feet. Happy tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Happy takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
River lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Happy at a distance.
Happy tries to clinch up but River circles away and keeps his distance. River thumps Happy with a low kick. River gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. River tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. River misses with a hook from the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. River tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. River tries to work over Happy's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. River misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Happy is looking to control River's arms but River gets an underhook and turns him. Now Happy has his back to the cage. Happy is trying to pull guard but River turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. River misses with a shot to the kidneys.
That's one minute gone in the round. River gets through Happy's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. A left hand lands to the body for River.
Happy tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. River just stands there and leans against the cage. River tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. River jumps guard.

River tries to land a sweep but no joy. Happy throwing strikes from guard but River blocks nicely. Happy postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. River can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Happy controls the pace. River keeping moving, preventing Happy from controlling successfully. Bert River overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. River throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Happy is working River over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Happy content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because River has locked up a guillotine! River's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Happy is holding on here and River must be using up a lot of energy. Happy has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! River gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
