PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bill West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Carpenter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jake Carpenter was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Carpenter as West shoots in.

West drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Carpenter wants to control but West is keeping busy and won't allow it.

West closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Carpenter wants to improve his position but West is controlling well.

Carpenter sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

West is looking to regain half guard here but Carpenter keeps moving and retains side control.
Carpenter is putting a hurting on West here, landing some big shots from side control.

West wants to control from the top but Carpenter keeps moving.
West wanted to stand there but Carpenter had control of the position.

Carpenter is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But West has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from West!

Carpenter manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. West manages to get himself to full guard.
Carpenter stands up over West, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Carpenter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Carpenter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

West breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Carpenter closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming West to the mat! West manages to get full guard.

Carpenter has gone for a leg lock! West slips out almost immediately though and dives into Carpenter's guard.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


The fight stays on the outside here - West looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Carpenter looks for a takedown but West sprawls well.

Carpenter bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Carpenter misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
West is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Carpenter pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Carpenter cracks West with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
West is trying to stand up.

Carpenter is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! West is forced to tap! Great finish!
