Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Destro Vonstein (ranked 3933 p4p, 4820 weight class) and Fabio Castelo (ranked 449 p4p, 520 weight class). Destro Vonstein has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Destro Vonstein! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Fabio Castelo! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Peter Branson and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vonstein fails with a takedown attempt. Castelo works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Vonstein shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Castelo as he jumps to the side. Vonstein fails with the takedown and Castelo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Destro Vonstein. That's going to take a lot out of him. Castelo throws out a powerful jab. Destro Vonstein seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vonstein fails with the takedown and Castelo counters with a lovely shot to the body. Castelo defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Vonstein. Vonstein fails with the takedown. Castelo now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Vonstein with a poor takedown and Castelo connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Vonstein shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Castelo as he jumps to the side. No luck with that takedown attempt from Vonstein. Castelo swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Vonstein is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Castelo jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
It looks like Destro Vonstein has been cut. Vonstein gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Castelo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Vonstein with a lazy takedown attempt and Castelo counters with a big uppercut that knocks Vonstein off his feet! Castelo dives into side control looking to finish! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Castelo remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Vonstein tries to bench press Castelo off him but Castelo keeps the position. Castelo controls the position from side control. Vonstein misses with an elbow from the bottom. Vonstein can't do much from the bottom here. Vonstein is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Castelo tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Castelo is looking to take a break and control but Vonstein is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Castelo wants to stand but Vonstein has his arm trapped. Vonstein tries to improve position but can't. We've been hearing good reports from Vonstein's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Vonstein wants to control but Castelo postures up. Vonstein tries to strike from the bottom but misses. Vonstein tries to get back to half guard but can't. Vonstein has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Vonstein struggling a bit here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Castelo controlling from side mount. Castelo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vonstein keeps working. Vonstein is letting Castelo control him for a moment. Vonstein manages to get back to half guard. Vonstein is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Castelo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Castelo's back! Castelo trying to control the hands but Vonstein breaks the grip. Vonstein is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Castelo is defending well though. Vonstein let's go of the attempt for now. Castelo is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Vonstein off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Vonstein misses with punches from the back. Vonstein has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Castelo has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Castelo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Vonstein. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Castelo tries to escape but he's let his defenses down in doing so and Vonstein has slipped in the rear naked choke! Oh, that's tiiiiiiiiight! Castelo is tapping! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
