Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kingsl Merlin (ranked 4554 p4p, 6070 weight class) and Christopher Starmer (ranked 0 p4p, 665 weight class). Kingsl Merlin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kingsl Merlin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Christopher Starmer! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Darius Henderson and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Merlin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Starmer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Merlin somewhat. Merlin moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Merlin goes for a double leg but Starmer avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Starmer continues to drive forward. Merlin manages to break the clinch.
Starmer feints and as Merlin raises his hands in defense, Starmer changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Starmer trying to control the position from guard on top but Merlin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Merlin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Merlin had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Starmer defends it easily. Starmer stands and throws Merlin's legs to the side, diving into side control.

But no, Merlin has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Starmer but great work by Merlin. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Merlin looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Starmer looking for a sweep. And that's the end of the fight! Kingsl Merlin showed his dominance in that final round. Well Merlin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
