PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wang Chung (ranked 2799 p4p, 2522 weight class) and Alonzo Leandro (ranked 382 p4p, 357 weight class). Chung kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Everybody Wang Chung Tonight. Wang Chung has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Wang Chung!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alonzo Leandro!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leandro takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Leandro moves into the clinch successfully.
Leandro has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Chung after a bit of a struggle.

Leandro tightens his grip and picks Chung up, before dumping him to the ground. Chung manages to land in guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Leandro working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Chung has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Chung is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Chung clinches up with Leandro and pushes him back against the cage.

Chung breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Leandro shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Chung sprawls well. Chung wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Leandro gets slowly back to his feet.

Chung pushes a forearm under Leandro's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Leandro is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
