Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alexander Mesquita!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Oumarou Zula!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Konstantin Menshow and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mesquita closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Zula to the mat! Zula manages to get full guard.
Mesquita working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Zula looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Zula working for a triangle but Mesquita defends it easily.
Mesquita looking to sit in guard and control but Zula gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Zula looking to pass the guard.
Zula advances to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zula tries to pass to full mount but Mesquita defends it.
Mesquita moves into full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mesquita is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Zula trying to control but Mesquita is working from the bottom.
Zula drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mesquita looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mesquita looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mesquita!
Mesquita creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Zula wants to control but Mesquita postures up.
Mesquita cracks Zula with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Zula struggling a bit here.

Zula tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mesquita wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Mesquita trying to control the position but Zula is working away.
Mesquita is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Zula looks calm but he's in trouble here. Mesquita gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Zula is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Mesquita lets go of the hold and Zula can pop his arm back in it's socket.
