Mata drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Pancake (0) vs (4) Mata Pancake tries to improve position but can't. Pancake can't do much from the bottom here. Mata is looking to take a break and control but Pancake is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Pancake gets back to half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pancake is staying active underneath Mata, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

 That's one minute gone in the round. Mata keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Mata is thwarting Pancake's attempts to control the position. Pancake is not content to let Mata control the position. Pancake makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pancake. Pancake pulls Mata in close to prevent any damage. Mata forces his way into half guard.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Mata wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pancake keeps working. Pancake trying to hold on to Mata's head to control him but Mata postures up.

Mata maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Pancake could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Mata has cracked it and Pancake is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Mata!
