Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hidehiko Sakuraba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rua comes to the cage accompanied by Slayed. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mauricio Rua! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hidehiko Sakuraba! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rua lands a nice shot to the body.
Sakuraba fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rua sprawls well initially but Sakuraba persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rua wants to get back to his feet. Sakuraba seems to be looking for submissions.
Sakuraba wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rua keeps working. Sakuraba stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Rua moves into range and connects with a jab.
It looks like Hidehiko Sakuraba has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sakuraba keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Rua throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sakuraba sees it coming and avoids it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. A jab from Rua misses. Rua throws a jab when Sakuraba was well out of range. Sakuraba fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Rua tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Sakuraba closes the distance and clinches up with Rua, looking for a takedown. Sakuraba pushes Rua against the cage but Rua circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Rua throws an overhand right that lands on Sakuraba's shoulder, as Sakuraba tries to avoid the shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Rua tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Nice takedown defense from Rua. No joy for Sakuraba on that attempt. Mauricio Rua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hidehiko Sakuraba. Rua scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Sakuraba has a takedown stuffed. Rua scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Sakuraba fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sakuraba throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rua's waist but Rua gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sakuraba off to one side. Sakuraba looks gassed! Sakuraba uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Rua. Rua scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Rua misses with a body shot.

Hidehiko Sakuraba seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rua connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rua jabbing away but nothing is landing. Sakuraba closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
That has opened up Hidehiko Sakuraba's cut even more. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sakuraba changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rua tries to avoid it but Sakuraba manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rua to the ground. Rua escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A left and a right from Rua both land. Nice combination. Rua lands a high kick to the side of Sakuraba's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Rua dives into guard, looking to finish.
Sakuraba is rocked!
The cut above Hidehiko Sakuraba's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Sakuraba escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rua gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Rua gets to his feet - Sakuraba follows without any prompting. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mauricio Rua dominated that round. The cut man is working on Hidehiko Sakuraba's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Rua cracks Sakuraba with a big right hand and Sakuraba goes down! Sakuraba has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rua can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Sakuraba working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rua doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sakuraba is breathing heavily. Sakuraba is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Sakuraba has a closed guard, preventing Rua from standing up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sakuraba closes the distance and clinches up with Rua, looking for a takedown. Sakuraba pushes Rua against the cage but Rua circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Hidehiko Sakuraba's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Hidehiko Sakuraba's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Mauricio Rua! Mauricio Rua retains his light heavyweight title!
