Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Joopu Bizo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nixon Mesquita!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mesquita moves in looking to clinch but Bizo pushes him off.
Mesquita shoots in and gets a takedown into Bizo's guard.
Bizo kicks Mesquita off and gets to his feet.
We've been hearing reports that Bizo has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Bizo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mesquita as he jumps to the side.
Bizo throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mesquita tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bizo is in Mesquita's guard.
Bizo wants to control from the top but Mesquita keeps moving.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bizo stays in close to Mesquita's body and controls the position.
Mesquita is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mesquita is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Bizo gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Mesquita looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Bizo is looking for a kimura but Mesquita is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bizo to get the leverage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bizo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mesquita tries to roll over but Bizo keeps him under control.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bizo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mesquita is just riding it out for now. Bizo eventually gives up the hold.
Bizo is looking to advance position but Mesquita won't allow it.
Mesquita is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bizo is trying to control the action in half guard but Mesquita is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Bizo trying to advance position but Mesquita counters by regaining guard.
Bizo looking to improve position, pressing down on Mesquita's thigh with his hand. Mesquita seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Bizo paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Bizo's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Mesquita picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
