PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Mendez (ranked 3456 p4p, 3982 weight class) and Ace Spade (ranked 450 p4p, 519 weight class). Spade has chosen P-town Ballers by KINGCLICK as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ace Spade!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spade uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mendez.
Mendez moves out of range as Spade strikes.
Mendez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Spade tries to bum rush Mendez with a series of wild strikes but Mendez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Spade throws a hook to the side of Mendez's head but Mendez sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
It looked like Mendez wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Ace Spade seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mendez looks to throw the jab but Spade is out of range.

Mendez takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Ace Spade seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Mendez closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Spade wants to get back to his feet but Mendez is dominant here and he's now got Spade's back!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mendez is riding his opponent, not letting Spade buck him off.
Mendez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Spade can do to turn this around?

You can see the frustration on Spade's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Ace Spade's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Ace Spade's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
