Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Philippe Cockx (ranked 3687 p4p, 4259 weight class) and Roger Mesquita (ranked 424 p4p, 469 weight class). Cockx comes to the cage accompanied by MMA Entrance Music / Eddie Alvarez. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Philippe Cockx! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roger Mesquita! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Alyssa Summers and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Cockx. No joy for Mesquita on that attempt. Cockx displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mesquita. Cockx clinches up against the cage. A short right from Cockx on the inside. Cockx stalling in the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Cockx - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Mesquita is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Cockx is defending well. Philippe Cockx has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roger Mesquita. A nice left hand lands by Cockx.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cockx leaning against his opponent.
Cockx pushes Mesquita back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Cockx breaks the clinch.
Cockx will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cockx forces Mesquita back against the cage and clinches. Cockx lands a nice elbow. Still in the clinch, Cockx scores with a nice short uppercut.
Mesquita is rocked! Mesquita takes a shot to the head. Mesquita is still on wobbly legs! Can Cockx finish him? Cockx pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Cockx clinches up against the cage. Cockx slowing the pace effectively. Cockx definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Cockx manages to break the clinch.
Cockx rushes Mesquita and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Cockx has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Mesquita - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Cockx, and another! Mesquita is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Philippe Cockx!
