This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 7 wins and 11 losses; Eliott Leighton! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 13 losses; Andy Bangsit!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Thiago Cunha.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Leighton tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bangsit swivels and escapes.
Bangsit feints the counter takedown.
Leighton darts in looking for a takedown but Bangsit gets double underhooks and turns Leighton into the cage.

Leighton drops back looking for a leg! Bangsit is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bangsit manages to kick Leighton off! Leighton jumps back into Bangsit's guard.

Leighton is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bangsit is just riding it out for now. Leighton eventually gives up the hold.

Bangsit working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Leighton doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Leighton manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bangsit had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Leighton defends it easily.

Leighton drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bangsit looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bangsit looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bangsit!

My spies in Cloud9 inform me that Bangsit has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
