Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Juan Carlos (ranked 1421 p4p, 2705 weight class) and Sergei Ulatov (ranked 191 p4p, 319 weight class). Juan Carlos could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Sergei Ulatov's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Carlos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 13 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sergei Ulatov!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Chad Campbell and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ulatov shoots in looking for a takedown but Carlos manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ulatov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Ulatov is trying hard to land a takedown here. Carlos sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Ulatov misses with a takedown
and Carlos counters with a series of strikes. Ulatov will be more careful next time no doubt.
Juan Carlos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sergei Ulatov.

Ulatov shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Carlos manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Carlos is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ulatov jumps guard but Carlos turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Ulatov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Carlos counters with a nice right hand that sends Ulatov toppling to the canvas! Ulatov scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Carlos finish him?!

Ulatov is rocked!

Ulatov shoots in and bounces Carlos off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Carlos manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carlos is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Carlos's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Carlos manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Ulatov is trying to pull guard but Carlos turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Carlos scores with a hook to the body.
Carlos lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Carlos is struggling to control the position.

Carlos is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Ulatov is defending well for now.
Ulatov tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Carlos smiles and moves away.
Ulatov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Carlos tries to avoid it but Ulatov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Carlos to the ground. Carlos escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ulatov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Carlos is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Ulatov's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Carlos makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Carlos.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Ulatov drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ulatov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ulatov in particular looking to stall.
Carlos is trying to get back to full guard.

Ulatov is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Carlos doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ulatov.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Carlos has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Ulatov is on him like a limpet, forcing Carlos back against the cage.

Ulatov has his foot on Carlos's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carlos works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carlos slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Ulatov utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Ulatov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Ulatov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carlos doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Carlos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Carlos counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Ulatov is trying hard to land a takedown here. Carlos sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Carlos throws a right hand that Ulatov ducks under and follows up with a left that Ulatov also avoids with ease.
Ulatov steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Carlos.
Ulatov shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Carlos as he avoids it easily.

Ulatov will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Carlos lands a big uppercut and Ulatov crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Ulatov looks OK. Carlos waves Ulatov back to his feet!
Ulatov is still on wobbly legs! Can Carlos finish him?
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ulatov goes for a double leg but Carlos avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Carlos continues to drive forward.
Carlos looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Carlos is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Ulatov flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Ulatov is out cold! Carlos holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Juan Carlos!
An out of breath Juan Carlos thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
