Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pedro Barbosa Ii (ranked 2929 p4p, 2609 weight class) and Kambei Shimada (ranked 389 p4p, 346 weight class). Shimada has chosen Seven Samurai as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Pedro Barbosa Ii! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kambei Shimada! The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Hugh Johnson and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shimada is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Barbosa Ii. Barbosa Ii shoots in for a double leg but Shimada sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Barbosa Ii throws a lazy right hand but Shimada sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Barbosa Ii tries to clinch but Shimada moves out of range. Barbosa Ii drives through with a takedown into guard. Barbosa Ii postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Shimada is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Barbosa Ii, into his guard. Barbosa Ii is trying to keep Shimada in close.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barbosa Ii keeping full guard, as Shimada tries to pass. Barbosa Ii definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Barbosa Ii has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shimada can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Barbosa Ii lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Barbosa Ii controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Shimada working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Barbosa Ii.

Pedro Barbosa Ii dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Shimada throws a hook to the side of Barbosa Ii's head but Barbosa Ii sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Barbosa Ii drops down looking for a counter takedown but Shimada sprawls and moves away. Barbosa Ii's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Shimada connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Barbosa Ii scrambles back to his feet. Barbosa Ii shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shimada as he jumps to the side. Barbosa Ii looks to land a right hand but Shimada moved out of range. Barbosa Ii looking to score a takedown here. Pedro Barbosa Ii overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Barbosa Ii has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barbosa Ii has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Shimada is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Barbosa Ii.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shimada trying to control the position but Barbosa Ii is working away. Barbosa Ii is trying to control Shimada's posture but Shimada avoids it. Shimada wants to stand but Barbosa Ii is controlling his arm. Shimada really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Barbosa Ii. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That was a close second round but I would say that Pedro Barbosa Ii will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round! Barbosa Ii has his takedown stuffed and Shimada counters with a series of strikes. Barbosa Ii will be more careful next time no doubt. Shimada misses with a right hand and Barbosa Ii counters with a single leg into guard. Shimada didn't expect that. Barbosa Ii drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Barbosa Ii jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Barbosa Ii is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Shimada is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Shimada has escaped and now he's on top! Shimada doesn't defend quickly enough and Barbosa Ii has managed to lock this one up! Can Shimada escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Barbosa Ii on a fantastic submission victory.
